Hi, I’m Michelle Brochu Baker—a mixed-media artist, designer, and instructor with a passion for creativity in all its forms. In my work, I blend traditional media like pencil, charcoal, chalk, and ink with digital tools like Photoshop and Procreate to bring ideas to life.
Welcome to my design studio, Rockin’ Chalk!
I’ve been fortunate to live a creative life since 1989, working as a muralist, illustrator, sign painter, and graphic designer for print, TV, and multimedia. Then, in 2017, I discovered something truly special: a love for teaching art and inspiring creativity in others. Since then, I’ve had the joy of working with hundreds of students of all ages, both in person and online. My classes are designed to bring the studio experience right into your home through small-group or one-on-one, real-time video lessons.
Private instruction is $45 for 45 minutes over Google Meet or Zoom
(+$10 for in-person when available).

I primarily teach Online and I also have an instructional YouTube Channel.

I work with learners age 11 and up (including teens, adults and retirees)

I have taught at the college level as an adjunct instructor teaching Digital Art, as well as in a classroom setting with K-8 at a private academy in New Hampshire teaching art fundamentals.
I have been an Outschool instructor since March of 2020, and have worked with approximately 500 learners online through that platform.

Draw, Texture & Shade!
Dry media is one of my very favorites! In this class, I teach the fundamentals of applying pencil and charcoal while also demystifying some traditional tools that can level up your drawing skills! The fun starts with these fundamentals!
Draw and color like a pro!
Bring your drawings to life with bold colors and smooth blends! Learn how to draw cool and creative subjects and master coloring with alcohol markers! Spoiler alert: These are really different from regular water based markers!
